Principal's Message
Happy fall Panthers!
We are officially into the fall season which means Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, Fall Carnivals, and the WCEF Read-a-Thon!
WCEF Read-a-Thon Update
Parkmead is currently in 4th place in minutes read at 99,213 and 3rd place with donations raised at $22,909.
While being in first isn't everything, I do want to keep our title from last year with most minutes read. So enter those minutes and remember that every donation counts no matter how big or small! We can do this Panthers!!!
The last day to log minutes is Friday at 11:59p. There are no exceptions so please log those minutes!
Easy tracking with Pledgestar:
Log reading minutes (Sept 14 - 25 ONLY) + donations in the app
The Fall Carnival will be on Saturday, October 3 from 3-6pm. Join the fun with games, crafts, prizes, the legendary Boo Bakery, and more - but we need volunteers like you to help make it possible!
The Boo Bakery needs your help! We are still in need of treats for our Fall Carnival booth on October 3rd. If your family is able to donate one dozen spooky treats please sign up here for more information!
We are looking for a few parents to join our School Site Council. School Site Council (SSC) is a committee of teachers, parents and administrators who work together to develop and monitor the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Our SSC meets virtually from 3:00-4:00.
If you are interested, please fill out the SSC Interest form.
English Learner Advisory Committee
English Language Advisory Committee Information
The rich diversity of our Parkmead community is one of our greatest strengths, and we are so proud that many of our students are emerging bilinguals.
This year, we are going to hold ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) meetings to gather as parents, caregivers, and staff to discuss programs, learning plans, and support for our multilingual students. We would love family feedback to ensure these meetings serve the needs of our community. Please take a moment to complete this brief voluntary ELAC Planning Survey to assist us with planning.
Thank you for your partnership and support in making this a wonderful year for our students!
SELPA Community Advisory Committee
We hope parents of students receiving special education services and supports can take advantage of these Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Parent Trainings throughout the school year. The Contra Costa SELPA CAC is an advisory body that provides input on special education local plans, policies, and parent education to the Contra Costa SELPA Governance Council and Director.
Key Functions and Membership
Advisory Role: Advises on the development and review of the Special Education Local Plan, policy revisions, and annual priorities.
Parent & Community Support: Assists in parent education, builds family advocacy skills, and encourages public involvement.
Composition: Consists of interested parents of students with and without exceptional needs, special and general education teachers, agency representatives, and community members, with a required majority of members being parents.
Participating Districts: Coordinates across 16 local education agencies and districts in Contra Costa County, including Walnut Creek School District.
We hope you see our Walnut Creek families there!
