Principal's Message

What is up Panthers!?!?

Welcome back from what felt like the shortest summer break ever. It truly feels like we just left, but hey, when you love your school, coming back doesn't feel like a chore. The good news about living in California is the weather will be hot until Halloween so the summer fun doesn't have to stop. I am so excited to see all of you in just a week, so I hope you're ready to have what I believe can be the best year ever.

There is a lot of information in this newsletter so please make sure to read it all!!!

Our school community theme for this school year is "Be the reason someone smiles today." I know that we will all do everything we can to live by these words.

Monday August 10th is Welcome Back Day! We will start with an "All Family" presentation at 2:30p. Come learn about everything Parkmead and meet our fabulous members of our PTO PERC (Parkmead Education Resource Council). This presentation is geared for all families (new and returning). We will have a 2nd presentation at 5p for those who can't make it for the earlier presentation.

The walk through will be open from 3p-5p. You can look at class lists, get your free spirit shirt, sign up to volunteer for PERC, learn about our golf tournament, join the Scouts, and more! Did we mention Kona Ice will also be on site? All are welcome!

Unfortunately, teachers will be working all day so they will not be present at the WBD event. We don't want them to tire out before the school year starts! Classrooms will not be open to view.

The first day of school is Wednesday August 12th. It is a late start Wednesday schedule for all students.
TK Schedule: 8:55 – 11:55a
K Schedule 8:55-12:15p
1st-5th Schedule 8:55-2:30p

Families are welcome to walk their student to campus on the first day of school. Please note that for safety reasons, for the rest of the year, Parkmead is a closed campus and only students and volunteers who sign in are allowed on campus.

Coffee & Pastries with the Principal will start after students start class at 8:55a. Please come to the MPR to say hi to me and have a treat!

Student Drop Off
Please make sure students are not dropped of before 7:50a and 8:40a on Wednesdays. While staff is on site, there is no student supervision until these times. Please do not drop off students in the front and leave them unattended.

2 Free Meals a Day!
Every student at Parkmead gets 2 free meals a day. This can be breakfast, brunch and/or lunch. Teachers ask students everyday what they would like for lunch and there is nothing more that families need to do for lunch service. Students can also bring lunch from home.

Breakfast is served at 7:50a everyday and 8:40a on Wednesday in the MPR.
PERC
Parkmead does not have classroom supply lists because of our amazing PTO PERC!
Please consider donating to their annual fund to continue to support specific Parkmead programs! More information below!

WCEF

I am so excited to see everyone at our Welcome Back Day!

You will hear me say this a lot, but stay positive Panthers and don't forget to smile!

Parkmead Education Resources Council

About PERC

The Parkmead Education Resources Council (PERC) is our school's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Every Parkmead Elementary family is automatically a member. We're excited to kick off another amazing year of community, connection, and fun for our students!

You make it possible! Volunteering and contributing to the PERC Annual Fund makes it happen.

Annual Fund Donations

Through your generous donations, we are able to purchase classroom supplies, cover the cost of school field trips, provide teacher appreciation meals and gifts, and much more not covered by the school’s regular budget, which helps make Parkmead a wonderful learning environment and community.

If you would like to contribute to PERC's Annual Fund, you can make a donation through the link below. The suggested donation to help meet PERC's fundraising goal is $250 per family, not per student, but any amount is deeply appreciated!
