Principal's Message

Happy Day after Open House Panthers!

Thank you to all the families and friends who attended Open House last night. It was so awesome seeing so many exciting faces walking campus. I am continually impressed by the work our students do each and every day. The growth they've made since August is something that should make everyone smile!

One thing I kept hearing all night was "Parkmead is such an amazing school." I completely agree, but it is a more than just a school, it's an amazing community. The families, the teachers and staff and students make Parkmead amazing. I am so thankful for the work we do here, and I am thankful for all of you who make Parkmead special.

Dad's Night Out is Tomorrow!
Tomorrow night is the final dad's night of the year. Come one, come all and hang with some of the coolest dudes in Walnut Creek (those guys are actually busy but the guys hosting it aren't bad)! 5-Minute Survey: Are School Meals Influencing Eating at Home?

Our district is partnering with Eat Real and Professor Christopher Gardner, PhD, at Stanford University to better understand how school meals shape students’ eating habits.
This short, anonymous survey asks families to share their child’s experience with school meals and how it may influence food preferences at home.

✔ Takes just 5 minutes
✔ Open to all families
✔ Helps improve student meals and healthy habits

LAST CALL! Photos Wanted for 5th Grade Slideshow! Due Friday 5/22

We are excited to create a meaningful end-of-year slideshow that celebrates our students’ entire elementary school journey—and we need your help to make it special!
Please take a few minutes to submit photos from your child’s school years, from kindergarten through 5th grade. We’re looking for pictures that capture school memories, such as classroom activities, field trips, performances, spirit days, and other school events.
Photo Guidelines:
  • Please upload photos to the grade-level folders that have been created using the link below.
  • Be sure to label each photo with a brief description of the event (for example: “2ndGrade_FieldTrip_Zoo” or “4thGrade_Science”).
  • Photos should include more than one child and reflect school-related events.
  • Exceptions: You may include individual photos for Kindergarten and 5th Grade school portraits only.
  • All photos need to be submitted by Friday, May 22nd
Submitting your photos is the best way to ensure your child is included in the slideshow. Without submissions, they may not be represented—and we don’t want anyone to be left out! We will not have the capacity to check and make sure every student is represented, so it is up to you!
Thank you for helping us celebrate these special memories and make this slideshow something the kids will treasure for years to come!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Tiphanie Karas at karasfamilyof6@gmail.com.

Art Show Thank You!

I wanted to express my gratitude to all the families, caregivers and kids that came through the Art Show Open House on Tuesday. Parkmead has many talented artists and showcasing their hard work from this year was a huge point of pride for me. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to Parkmead's classroom teachers for graciously opening your classrooms to the mess that is art on a cart. I always appreciate your flexibility for all messy and involved projects I throw your way. Next, I want to express DEEP GRATITUDE to all of my classroom volunteers - as you know from experience, art would not happen without your help. From helping with weaving to cleaning up paint to encouraging students to keep going and "add more detail", you all are an integral part of our Parkmead Art Program. Lastly, (but not least), I would like to especially thank Jen Ulbrich, Jill McCauley, Bree Davis and Megan Westcoat for helping me all day Tuesday, from delivering Portfolios to classrooms to hanging up the beautiful artwork our students created for our art show, it wouldn't have happened without your amazing help. I am grateful to live and teach in this wonderful community.

Thank you for all your support,
Kat O'Donohue Munn

Volunteer for Field Day!

Field Day is coming up on June 1 (1st-5th grades) and June 2 (TK/Kindergarten). That means a morning of outdoor games and spirited competition between Parkmead classes, capped off with a school-wide popsicle party!

To make this Parkmead tradition a blast for our Panthers, we need volunteers! From set up, to running games, overseeing lunch, and handing out popsicles, there’s a role for everyone!

Want to help keep your child protected from the sun in style on Field Day? Purchase a Parkmead hat before May 29 so we can deliver it ahead of time: Parkmead PERC Store

$58,201 Raised at FORE! Education Golf Tourney!

A huge thank you to all our sponsors, players, and volunteers who made it possible for us to raise an all-time high of $58,201 at last week’s FORE! Education Golf Tournament. It was a beautiful sunny day out on the Rossmoor Dollar Ranch course. We had amazing hole sponsors who kept our golfers fed and hydrated, incredible raffle items, and Las Lomas girls varsity golfers who helped raise $7,668 for WCEF’s Endowment fund! What a great event! Thank you to all who came out to support our Walnut Creek schools!
